A Productive 6 months! :)

Well.....don't worry, I am still going to try to keep this updated! I've been kinda slow about blogging. Ok, let's be honest...I've been a HORRIBLE blogger.

So let's start where I left off. I was 30 weeks pregnant. I think I have a couple more belly pics to post. I think the last one I took was when I was 34 weeks pregnant.
On February 1st (this was a Sunday), Nolan left for Montgomery for his first clinical for school. On that same day I moved in with my parents so I wouldn't be pregnant and alone...I was a scaredy cat about being by myself. That was an emotional day because I knew that Nolan would be gone for 10 weeks, and was very worried that he would not make it in time to see Jake be born when I went into labor. Well the following Tuesday I went in for my 37 week checkup. The doctor said I was 1-2 cm dialated, and the week before I was 1 cm. So I did not think that was much progress. Well......two days later I wake up to get ready for work and noticed some odd feelings in my stomache. I have been having some crampy feelings for a couple weeks, but they had not been painful. That day I could tell they felt different. It was slightly painful and hurt in my lower stomache, all away around to my lower back. I didn't think to much about it and went on getting ready for work. I got downstairs to eat breakfast and told mom about it, because by this time I was noticing that the pain was kind of coming and going-which seemed like contractions to me. Mom thought otherwise...she was sure it was just braxton hicks contractions. I kept telling her I thought this was for real, so we read through several pregnancy books to look for signs for real labor vs. false labor, and it seemed like I had signs of both. Since we still weren't sure, I decided to go into work anyway. I told her to be prepared for a phone call!
I called Nolan on the way to work and told him I might be experiencing some contractions, and he didn't seem to believe me either, and told me to just check in with him in a little while.
I got to work, and the pains were getting a little stronger, so I called my sister Paige, and I FINALLY found someone who believed I was in labor! She told me to call the doctor, so I did. The nurse I spoke with wasn't sure if I was descrbing true labor either bc I had not been really timing the pains. She made an appt for me to see the on-call doctor at 2:00 (that was the earliest time available.) Keep in mind that at this point it was about 11:15. So I continued teaching and timing my contractions at the same time, which was no easy task! I tried not to make it too obvious that I was in labor or my 9th graders would have flipped out! Finally, at about 1:30, I left work and drove myself to the hospital. At this point I was hurting very badly, and the contractions were coming every 3-4 minutes!
My wonderful mother met me there, so I was only by myself at the hospital in the waiting room for about 15 minutes. Finally, at about 2:30 I got to meet with the on-call doctor, who I had never seen before, and he said I was about 5 cm dialated, and that my baby was going to have a birthday today! So my mom got Nolan on the phone and told him to get his behind there! He got there just in time to be with me during my epidural. He was lucky to miss out on the rough contractions. My mom and my heating pad saved me during those! After the epidural I was feeling great! I got to visit with all my family and Nolan's family. And at 7:04, Jake was born! :) It was such an amazing experience!
Here are some pictures of the wonderful occasion on February 5, 2009!
We had lots of visitors in the hospital. I don't want to try to name them, because I know I will accidentally leave off some names. Paige was able to come the night I had Jake. I think she started rounding the kids up as soon as she heard I was for sure in labor. She picked up all four kids and drove all the way from Knoxville by herself with them to try to make it as soon as she could. (Bobby came up the next day) She was got there about an hour after Jake was born. It was so sweet of her and the kids to come all the way. I know it was rough on them. The kids all looked like zombies when they came in, but it was so good to see them all!

Poor Nolan....he had such a rough day! :)

I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I can never repay all of the times you have been in the hospital with my babies...all three of them. Hopefully next time you will be a little more scheduled and I won't miss it by an hour!
Love all of the updates.

Finally went back and read it! Great post! Sure wish I could have been there, but think I would have been a little more than an hour late! He's precious!
